The Stay Woke Conference is a day of learning centered around students of color. Along with a keynote speaker, we are  providing students with the opportunity to break into smaller groups centered around ideas like identity, diversity and justice. The workshops can be led by students or adults.

Stay Woke is for high school students in the South Sound area. Our target audience is students of color and their Partners:  White students ready to engage in self-reflection and to be active participants in the work of undoing racism.

We need several workshops of 1 hour in length. There may be up to 50 students in each workshop. We are looking for presenters who can engage a high school audience and lead presentations related to the following themes:

Identity: Facilitate dialog among students who belong to an affinity-based club, such as a Black Students' Union, a Latinx Students' Union, Pacific Islanders Club, Native Student Alliance, Muslim Student Association, etc, etc. Help students understand how identity impacts their own experience and their relationships with others. Support positive relationship among diverse members of like affinity groups.

Diversity: Develop respectful ways to discuss similarities and differences with others and begin to think about how diversity affects relationships within the school building and the classroom.

Justice: Understand the difference between personal stereotypes and systemic discrimination, and explore how privilege impacts discrimination and justice.

Action: Understand how students can move from prejudice reduction to collective action to dismantle racist practices and policies, or advocate for greater equity.

Here are some of the topics students are interested in.  We'd love to have presenters choose one of these topics of interest to our students, or Propose your own!
